Port Hedland Primary School is supported by the BHP Pilbara Education Partnership.
This is the largest industry and government partnership undertaken in regional Western Australia and has seen BHP invest approximately $40 million in education since 2010. The partnership was established in 2005 to enhance education services and improve education outcomes in public schools across Port Hedland, Newman, Onslow, and surrounding areas.
The 2025 to 2028 agreement commenced in early 2025 attracting $12 million in funding over 4 years and has been achieved through extensive consultation with BHP, Pilbara schools, and communities.
The Partnership aims to:
- Prepare children to be ready for school through an early years strategy that delivers on school site early learning programs.
- Enhance the core work of schools by strengthening young people’s preparation for life beyond school through a pathways strategy and an inclusive, opportunities‑focused program.
- Improve STEM outcomes for students through an annual grants program.
